Programme & Partnerships Director

Sam Trotman is the Programme and Partnership Director at SSW and forms part of its new co-leadership model alongside Sara Gallie. Within this role she works with the SSW team, artists and local community members in developing the programme and ensuring that everything is in place to make it happen.

Sam is a producer by trade and has spent over 20 years supporting artists in developing and sharing their practices across local, national and international geographies. She cut her teeth making in her step-dads garage where she learnt to weld, cast, fill and sand after which she went on to study sculpture at Brighton University.

Prior to SSW Sam initiated and ran the Artsadmin Education Programme from 2006 – 2016 and has also worked across Europe and the UK with a wide variety of arts organisations and social and environmental campaigns. Sam currently sits on the Steering Group for Glasgow based contemporary music festival Counterflows and was Co-Chair of Fierce Festival in Birmingham from 2015-2021. She was also an arts Reshaper from 2019 -2021 exploring fairer governance models for the arts.
