5.4.3.2...........

Thursday,13th November 2008

Steve and Tinker are looking increasingly frazzled  as the countdown to Saturday and the Ghut  opening event draws near. They have both been working flat out on the build, plus Tinker has his installation to complete.

Today is a big day as the windows are arriving from Dundee, Jason is confident, as we all are, that they will just slot into the alloted and frequently measured gaps. Then Brian from the village (that's Lumsden not people) will set to on the wiring, the plasterboard will be put up, lights and switches installed, cladding finished plus some other stuff.

The rest of SSW has seen a lot of activity too. Alison has been working on her huge number of tiny pieces to cast into iron and wishing now that it was a small number of bigger piecas. La Claque has finished his invisible bicycle, or so he tells us, and is working on his interesting smoke machine centered project . Billy Teasdale is about to fill the foundry up with moulds of varying sizes for various metals as well as helping Peter Ells with his wax, to be cast into iron in the Spring. Billy has also been passing his knowledge and skill in the field of Jesmonite casting to Alison and me, SSW has a great history of skill sharing and long may it continue. Speaking of iron, we have had a good uptake of Ginny's scratch moulds for the iron pour from people of the locality so there should be a good turnout for the pour in a couple of weeks time.
