It is not till you re-read the drivel that you have just typed prior to pushing the publish button that you realize quite how odd your behavior may seem to others. Take the following for example.
Whilst walking the boys mutt by the river and looking for Orionids the other evening I paused for a while under a bridge to watch some bats, back-lit by the last remnants of light, feeding on insects. standing there i noticed a number of the hovering beasties seemingly dodging the bats by staying under the bridge. Preferring bats to insects I found a bit of dessicated Hogweed and used it like a peashooter, manouvreing the end of the stalk as close as possible behind the insect, and exhaling sharply, firing them out from under the bridge toward the heroic pipistrelles!
It was too dark to see exactly what the result was, but the answer is probably nothing, that or a fat bats.
Innyhoo, to SSW related matters.
Ginny had a great time with a bunch of seniors, they weren't Spanish blokes but participants of the Aberdeen Seniors Festival Judging from the feedback forms they left behind, bronze casting was a blessed relief from the relentless grind of carpet bowls.
Elsewhere on site, all is quiet on the Ghut front, they are all away doing art stuff. Ewan's request for wet weather to test the quality of his roof felting technique was answered in full by the rain Gods, closely followed by the Gods of high winds and snow. Currently Mr Frost is testing the resistance to expanding water and no doubt by the end of the Month every other weather God will have had at least one shot at it.
I hope they get it finished in time for the 2008 ITSA World Championships. Yes the eyes of the Table Squennis world once more be focussed on its spiritual home of Lumsden. With the Ghut crew on site and a contingent from the central belt we should have a star studded compliment of top qulity Squendanistas for this years showdown.
As reigning Champion it is up to me to defend SSW's honour, however, due to advancing years and the emergence of a new force in the game from Quebec, known only as "La Claque" I fear my time as World No1 is drawing to a close. Mind you, if Thor, Hammer of the Pong is sober this time, Norway could win, or the Stumpfmeister could snatch it for Germany. We shall see.
The aforementioned snow once again threatens to delay Will and Arthur's attempt to get the bronze casts (that they oh so nearly finished this week) on site. The site of course is at the top of the Cairngorm so they have a pretty small window of opportunuty. The next few day's should finally see them finished.
Next month our attention switches from bronze to iron as we welcome American artist Alison Ouillette for a casting project plus members of the local community will be making scratch moulds.
